In The Passenger Cabin
Pet restrictions apply. (see further below)
Permitted only on inter-island flights and flights leaving the State of Hawaii.
Not allowed on flights arriving into the State of Hawaii due to Quarantine requirements. (Exceptions made for service animals only).
Your pet must be in a carrier that will fit under the seat in front of you.
You may book your pet in the passenger cabin at the same time you make your own flight reservations. (Subject to applicable fees and space availability by calling Hawaiian Airlines Reservations.)

As Check-in Baggage

Pet and kennel combined weight must not exceed 70 lbs.
Pet will be loaded in the baggage compartment of your passenger flight.
You may book your pet as checkin baggage at the same time you make your own flight reservations. (Subject to applicable fees and space availability. You may call Hawaiian Airlines Reservations to make your arrangements.)

DOMESTIC CONTRACT OF CARRIAGE: RULE 200
CONDITIONS AND CHARGES FOR ACCEPTANCE OF LIVE ANIMALS
General Acceptance

HA will accept for transportation as baggage, dogs, cats and household birds (only in baggage compartment) which are kept as personal pets or as show or exhibition animals, subject to the provisions of this rule. Carriage of any other pets as baggage will be determined on a case by case basis at HA's sole discretion. No animals will be accepted for travel to/from Sydney, Australia, and to/from Manila, Philippines.

Note: Cats and Dogs will be accepted for nonstop travel between the Continental USA and Kahului, Hawaii, provided that all other requirements of this rule are met, and customers are in possession of a Kahului Airport Dog and Cat Inspection Permit issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture Animal Industry Division for the animal.

EXCEPTION: Live animals will not be accepted for travel to/from New York City (JFK) both in the passenger compartment and as checked baggage, except for qualified comfort/service animals

The passenger must make all arrangements and assume full responsibility for complying with any applicable laws, customs, and/or other governmental regulations, requirements or restrictions of the country, state, or territory to which the animal is being transported.

Animals accepted as baggage may, under certain circumstances, be shipped as air cargo. Please contact HA or visit HawaiianAirlines.com for rules applicable to cargo shipments.

This rule does not apply to the transportation of service animals pursuant to Rule 55.

To arrange pet entry into Hawaii, it is the responsibility of the customer to contact the Hawaii Department of Agriculture, Animal Quarantine Station [link to http://hawaii.gov/hdoa/ai/aqs/info] for all specific details.

Advance Arrangements Required
The number of containers allowed per flight, both as carry-on and checked baggage, is limited as follows:

Note: HA will not accept animals in the passenger compartment of the aircraft for flights into the State of Hawaii.

Advance arrangements must be made with HA to transport pets as checked or carry on baggage. Animals are accepted on a first-come first-served basis. After making your reservations, you must contact HA to make reservations for your pet(s).

Compliance with Applicable Laws and Regulations
The passenger is solely responsible for compliance with any applicable laws, customs and/other governmental regulations, requirements or restrictions of the country, state or territory to which the animal is being transported.

Health Certificates
Passengers are responsible to obtain health certificates for their pets prior to the first departure date as follows:


Financial Responsibility
The passenger is responsible for all financial obligations involved in transporting the animal, including vaccinations, health certificates, and quarantine charges.

Compliance with USDA Requirements
All animals accepted for transport must be placed in a shipping container and comply with all U.S. Animal Welfare Act (AWA) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) requirements. The passenger is responsible for insuring that the container meets all governmental requirements for the safe and humane transportation of the animal being transported. Without limitation of the foregoing containers must be large enough to allow the animal to stand upright and turn around and must be leak proof. HA may refuse to accept any animal for transport if, in its sole discretion, the animal is not properly presented in an approved container at the time of check in.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF ANIMALS AS CHECKED BAGGAGE
In addition to the general acceptance rules set forth above, the following additional conditions apply to the acceptance of animals as checked baggage.

Environmental Conditions
HA will not accept animals as checked baggage when, in HA's sole discretion, environmental conditions may post a hazard to the safety of the comfort of the animal. In particular, and without limitation of the foregoing, animals will not be accepted during the following periods or on the following flights:

Temperature Restrictions
Animals will not be accepted as checked baggage from April 15 through October 15.

Maximum Temperature
Animals will not be accepted as checked baggage if the local temperature at the origin, destination or connecting airport is expected to be above 85F/29C at the time of acceptance. The temperature restrictions apply from the time the animal is tendered until the scheduled arrival at the destination city.

Minimum Temperature
Animals will not be accepted as checked baggage if the local temperature at the origin, destination or connecting airport is expected to be below 45F/7C. Animals may be accepted for travel if the temperature falls below 45F/7C only under the following conditions:
There is no current embargo in place, and
You are in possession of an acclimation certificate issued and signed by a licensed veterinarian and dated within ten (10) days of travel (14 days if traveling TO Hawaii). The acclimation certificate must specify the minimum temperature at which the animal may travel. If the actual temperature is less than the specified minimum on the certificate at any time during transport, the animal will be refused for travel.

Animals will never be accepted to/from any Continental USA location if the temperature is less than 20F/-7C at any point during transport.

If HA is unable to accept an animal due to temperature restrictions, the customer may rebook to the next flight provided space is available for the customer and animal, subject to all conditions of this rule. Any applicable fare differences or date change penalties will be waived provided that changes are made into the same cabin as originally ticketed.

Embargo
Animals will never be accepted for check-in to/from a city that is under a seasonal pet acceptance embargo.

Transfer to Another Carrier
Animals will not be checked beyond a point of transfer to another carrier.

Transporting Containers/Kennels
Approved Container Required
Animals accepted as checked baggage must be placed in a hard sided shipping container.

Size and Weight Limitations
The total weight of the animal(s) and the container must not exceed 70 lbs and not exceed the following dimensions (in inches):


Number of Animals Per Container
No more than one adult dog or cat may occupy a single container. Two puppies or kittens may occupy a single container provided they are at least 8 weeks old and fully weaned, and no more than 6 months old. Two household birds will be permitted in the same container. The total weight of the animal(s) and the container(s) must not exceed 25 pounds.

Number of Containers Per Passenger
Passengers will be permitted to transport the maximum number of animals allowed for that particular aircraft at the time of reservations based on space availability, and subject to the limits set forth and the applicable charges.

Brachycephalic (short-nosed) Dogs and Cats
HA will accept for transportation brachycephalic dogs and cats only if the owner/shipper agrees to (1) release Hawaiian from any and all liability resulting from the transportation of the animal and (2) not file any claim with Hawaiian relating to the transportation of the animal. The owner/shipper must sign a liability release form prior to HA accepting the animal for transport.

Household Birds
HA will only accept household birds at the airport ticket counter. Household birds will only be permitted to be transported in the baggage compartment of the aircraft, and provided all required entry documentation accompanies the bird upon check-in. The passenger is responsible for determining entry documentation requirements of the respective governmental agencies of the destination State.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS FOR ACCEPTANCE OF ANIMALS AS BAGGAGE IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT
HA will not accept animals in the passenger compartment of the aircraft for flights into the State of Hawaii. See Rule 55 for Service Animal requirements.

In addition to the general acceptance rules set forth above the following special conditions apply to the acceptance of personal pets as carry-on baggage in the passenger compartment.

Types of Animals Accepted
HA will only accept dogs and cats in the passenger compartment of the aircraft. Other pets or animals will not be accepted. The pet must be small enough to fit comfortably in a container under the seat directly in front of the passenger.

Transporting Containers/Kennels
Approved Container Required
Animals accepted for transport in the passenger compartment must be placed in a soft-sided container. The container must be stored under the seat directly in front of the passenger transporting the animal. The animal will not be carried in the first (bulkhead) row or adjacent to an emergency exit. The animal must remain in the container while in the boarding area, airport lounge, during boarding and deplaning, and at all times while on board the aircraft.

Size and Weight Limitations
The total weight of the animal(s) and the container must not exceed 25 pounds exceed the following dimensions (in inches):


Number of Animals Per Container
No more than one adult dog or cat may occupy a single container. Two puppies or kittens may occupy a single container provided they are at least 8 weeks old and no more than 6 months old, and weigh less than 25 pounds in total.

Number of Containers Per Passenger
Passengers will be permitted to transport only one container per person in the passenger compartment. Animals will be accepted for reservations based on space availability, and subject to the limits set forth. and the applicable charges.

Removal of Offensive or Disruptive Animals
In the event the animal becomes offensive or causes a disturbance in the holding area prior to departure or during transit, HA has the right to remove the animal prior to departure or at the first en route stop.

Hawaiian Airlines Pet Travel Fees
The animal and its container will not be included in determining the free baggage allowance and will always be subject to a charge, with one expecption described below.

Domestic Pet Travel in the Cabin to Neighbouring Islands: $35
Domestic Pet Travel in the Cabin to/from Mainland: $125
Domestic Pet Travel as Luggage to Neighbouring Islands: $60

International Pet Travel on Hawaiian Airlines is not permitted. 


INTERNATIONAL CONTRACT OF CARRIAGE: RULE 105
ACCEPTANCE OF PETS AND ANIMALS
General Conditions Of Acceptance

Pets, limited to dogs, cats and household birds, when properly crated and accompanied by valid health and rabies vaccination certificates, entry permits and other documents required by countries of entry or transit will be accepted for carriage subject to the following requirements. Pets will be accepted as baggage only when accompanied by a passenger traveling on the same aircraft.
EXCEPTION 1: This rule does not apply to the transportation of live animals pursuant to Rule 56 of this tariff.
EXCEPTION 2: This rule does not apply to flights originating from or departing to Australia and/or the Philippines. Pets are not accepted as baggage on flights originating from or departing to Australia and/or the Philippines.
EXCEPTION 3: Brachycephalic (short-nosed) dogs and cats will be accepted for transportation on HA if the owner/shipper agrees to (1) release Hawaiian from any and all liability resulting from the transportation of the animal and (2) not file any claim with Hawaiian relating to the transportation of the animal. The owner/shipper must sign a liability release form prior to HA accepting the animal for transport.

Advanced arrangements must be made.

The animal must be harmless, inoffensive, and odorless and require no attention during transit.

The animal must be confined in a kennel subject to inspection and approval by the carrier prior to acceptance.

The passenger must make all arrangements and assume full responsibility for complying with any applicable laws, customs and/or other governmental regulations, requirements or restrictions of the country, state or territory to which the animal is being transported.

Carriage of animals is limited to one animal per container and one kennel per passenger except that two kittens or two puppies at least 8 weeks of age will be permitted in a single container providing they do not exceed a total weight of 25 lbs. Carrier will limit the number of containers carried on any flight in order to ensure the safety and well being of any animal transported.

Household Birds will be accepted at the airport ticket counter only and will be permitted to be transported in the baggage compartment only of the aircraft, provided all required entry documentation accompanies the bird upon check-in.

Carrier will refuse acceptance of an animal as checked baggage if the local temperature at the origin, destination, or connecting airports exceeds 85 degrees Fahrenheit/29 degrees Celsius or falls below 45 degrees Fahrenheit/7 degrees Celsius. The temperature at the time the animal is tendered for acceptance will be used as the determining factor.
Note 1: Animals will not be accepted for check-in to a city that is under a seasonal pet acceptance embargo.
If HA is unable to accept an animal due to temperature restrictions, the customer may rebook to the next flight with availability for the customer and animal in the original booking class, subject to all conditions of this rule. Any applicable fare differences or date change penalties will be waived for the customer only. Applicable charges for carriage of the animal will apply.

Pets in the Cabin

Kennel and Animal Storage
Maximum Hard-Sided Kennel Size for Animals Checked as Baggage:
The kennel must not exceed the following dimensions:



Pet container must be made of leak-proof metal, wood, fiber glass or polyurethane and subject to inspection and approval by carrier prior to flight departure time.

Charges
The animal and its kennel will not be included in determining the free baggage allowance and will always be subject to a [R] USD 225.00 charge.

HELP - CHECK-IN PET - LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT
Pet Reservations

Reservations for holding pets in the luggage compartment must be completed by calling our Reservations Department. Only domestic dogs, cats, and household birds(a) are accepted as check-in luggage. Any other animals are not accepted.

Pets will not be accepted as luggage on any flight where the temperature exceeds 85°F, or falls below 45°F; or during the pet embargo period for flights visiting: Phoenix (PHX), Las Vegas (LAS), San Jose (SJC), Sacramento (SMF). Snub nosed dogs and cats are temperature-sensitive, and should not be transported in the luggage compartment.

Booking Restrictions
For transportation of pets where the pet and kennel weigh over 70 lbs (32 kg), please refer to Hawaiian Airlines Cargo during their hours of operation.

Note: One passenger may check-in multiple animals, as long as the aircraft limitation is not exceeded.

Kennel Requirements
Kennels must adhere to the maximum amount of kennels per passenger based upon maximum allowed per aircraft and space availability. (Maximum 3 kennels per aircraft). No leash or restraining device is allowed to be attached to the pet.

Passengers must supply their own kennel. The kennel must:
Have a maximum of 1 animal per kennel
Exception: Up to 2 puppies or kittens (at least 8 weeks old, but no more than 6 months old and must be fully weaned) may be carried in one kennel, provided they do not exceed a total weight of 25 pounds.
Have the passenger's name, address, and phone number at the destination noted on kennel.
No P.O. Box addresses permitted.
Be a hard-sided plastic kennel and approved for airline transportation.
Hawaiian Airlines will not accept a soft-sided, collapsible kennel or all-wire cage.
Have adequate handholds to enable lifting without coming in contact with the pet.
Have a protecting rim of 3/4 inch to prevent the ventilation openings on transport enclosures from being blocked if placed next to a solid surface.
Have the entrance or exit must be securely fastened, or if latching mechanism is used, it must be accident proof.
Be large enough for pet to stand lie down and turn comfortably.
Have an absorbent material. (blanket, towel, shredded paper, absorbent pad)

Water and food is allowed in kennel, but Hawaiian Airlines will not feed the animal. The pet must be harmless, inoffensive, odorless and not require attention during flight.

Carrier will limit the number of containers carried on any flight in order to ensure the safety and well being of any animal transported.

Health Certificate Requirement

Health certificates must be signed/issued by a licensed/certified veterinarian. Health certificates are valid for 30 days after original departure date. If return flight occurs beyond 30 days from the original departure date, the passenger will need to obtain a new health certificate, dated within 10 (Hawaii→North America) / 14 (North America→Hawaii, service animals only) days of return flight.
e. Hawaiian Airlines only accepts Service Animals to/from NYC.

Airport Information
Web Check-in is NOT available for passengers with special service requests. Please check-in at Ticket Counter.

For pets arriving into Hawaii, they will be taken to the quarantine holding station at the Honolulu airport. Phone: 808-837-8092, near gate 26.
For pets connecting to Neighbor Islands, passengers need to check their pets in to their connecting flight. It is recommended that passengers schedule their flights prior to 4:30PM, and avoid Thursday and Friday flights due to quarantine limitations.

For pets arriving into North America airports, they will be available for pick-up at the baggage claim.

Animal Acceptance - North America → Kahalui, Maui (OGG) Non-Stop
Household birds are not accepted on non-stop flights to Kahalui, Maui (OGG). Hawaiian Airlines transports dogs and cats from the Mainland to Kahului, Maui (OGG) on non-stop flights under certain conditions. Customers must hold a "Kahului Airport Dog and Cat Inspection Permit", and fulfill requirements to participate in the State of Hawaii Direct Airport Release program. Kahului Airport Dog and Cat Inspection Permits are only issued for pets that meet the "5-Day or Less" program.

All normal pet requirements, restrictions, fees, and booking procedures apply. Customers may refer to Hawaiian Airlines' Contract of Carriage Rule 200 (Domestic) and Rule 105 (International) for complete animal acceptance details.

Dogs and cats will be cleared by the veterinarian at the Department of Agriculture building located next to the cargo building.

Interlining of Animals
Pets are not interlined (transferred between Hawaiian Airlines and Other Operating Airlines). Passengers must connect pets themselves between other airlines, including codeshare airlines. South Pacific is defined as: PPT, PPG.

Animals as baggage on Hawaiian Airlines flights:
Permitted: Neighbor Islands, Hawaii → North America, Hawaii → South Pacific
Not Permitted: North America → Hawaii, South Pacific → Hawaii

HELP - CARRY-ON PET - CABIN / PASSENGER COMPARTMENT
Web Check-in is not available for passengers with pets in cabin.

Animal Restrictions
Hawaiian Airlines will only transport domestic dogs or cats as pets in cabin, other permitted animals will only be transported in the luggage compartment of the aircraft.

To add a service animal to your reservation (made online or on the phone), please contact our Reservations Department. For animals not allowed to board any Hawaiian Airlines flight, see the Restricted Animal list. Non-service animal household pet birds must be transported in the luggage compartment of the aircraft. On flights originating from Phoenix, Arizona (PHX), birds are only accepted as on flights as service animals (not accepted as pets in cabin or as luggage).

a. Up to two (2) puppies, or two (2) kittens at least 8 weeks, but no more than 6 months, may be carried in one (1) kennel, provided they do not exceed a total weight of 25 pounds.
b. Pets in cabin are restricted due to quarantine restrictions set by the Hawaii Department of Agriculture.

Pet Carrier Acceptance Information
Passengers must:
Supply their own pet carrier and make all arrangements
Assume full responsibility for complying with any applicable laws, customs, and government regulation requirements or restrictions of the country, state, and territory to which the animal is being transported

Regulations and Restrictions
Maximum one (1) pet carrier per passenger:

Pets exceeding 25 lbs / 11 kg, but less than 70 lbs, must be transported as check-in luggage. For pets over 70 lbs, please refer to Hawaiian Airlines Cargo.

Pet carrier must be: able to be stored under the seat in front of the passenger, an airline approved soft-sided pet carrier(c), leak proof, well ventilated, and adequately sized(d) (able to turn/walk around). The animal must be confined to the pet carrier, and is subject to inspection and approval by airline personnel prior to acceptance.
c. Pet carrier can be "Sherpa", which has mesh lining that helps prevent leakage and looks like a duffle bag.
d. Pet carrier must have a reasonable amount of room for the comfort and safety of the animal (must be able to stand and turn around in kennel), and comply with all U.S. Animal Welfare Act and Department of Agriculture Requirements.

Maximum Pets in Passenger Compartment


Pet Fees
Fees shown are one-way per kennel. All fees subject to change. Non-service animal accomodation is subject to space availability. Voluntary stopovers incur point-to-point charges.

There are no fees for the transportation of service animals, in either the passenger or luggage compartment.(682a)

CARGO - PETS
At Hawaiian, we make your pet's health, safety and comfort a priority. We offer convenient ways to transport your dog or cat.

The State of Hawaii is a rabies-free state. That's why all animals originating from a point outside the Hawaiian Islands must clear quarantine at the first point of entry (either Honolulu or Kahului for Hawaiian Airlines Cargo flights). For additional info, please review our online Government Regulations section and contact the State of Hawaii Department of Agriculture, Animal Quarantine Station at 808-483-7171.

Acceptance At Cargo
Pet restrictions apply.
Should the combined weight of the pet and kennel exceed 70 lbs, your pet may be accepted at our Cargo facility, subject to applicable fees and space availability.
Pet traveling unaccompanied, may be accepted at our Cargo facility, subject to applicable fees and space availability.
Pet will be loaded in the baggage compartment of a passenger flight.

Requirements
Advance booking is required.
All shipments of live animals must comply with IATA Live Animal, USDA/APHIS and U.S. Fish and Wildlife regulations.
Shipment must comply with all local, state, federal and international regulations.
The shipper must obtain the documentation required for the transport of the animal including a Health Certificate issued by a licensed veterinarian not more than ten (10) days prior to flight departure for flights from Hawaii or not more than fourteen (14) days for flights to Hawaii.

Container Requirements
The container must be suitable for the animal being transported and appropriate for air transportation.
The animal must be able to stand, turn and lie down in a natural manner. Note that this rule varies by species.
The shipper must supply a leak-proof container as well as absorbent bedding that is suitable for the animal.
Water containers must be provided inside and accessible from outside the container.

Birds - Booking Procedures and Restrictions:
Hawaiian Airlines will only transport household birds.
Effective immediately Hawaiian Airlines does not accept birds from Phoenix
*Except for service/comfort animals.
Hawaiian Airlines will not accept live poultry, including day-old chicks or hatching eggs.

Household Birds will be accepted at the Airport Ticket Counter only and will be permitted to be transported in the baggage compartment only of the aircraft, provided all required entry documentation accompanies the bird upon check-in.

Exception: Hawaiian Airlines will accept in the cabin service animals, as defined by 14CFR Part 382, trained to qualified individuals with a disability who require the animal to assist them in the performance of necessary activities. 
Shipper/Owner does not need to be a known shipper.
Due to new quarantine laws, some animals may be cleared for same day transport to.
Note: All pet bookings can only be done once the reservation has been ticketed.
Military personnel traveling with orders are exempt from ticketing requirements

Kennel must have a protecting rim of 3/4 inch to prevent the ventilation openings on transport enclosures from being blocked if placed next to a solid surface.
Entrance or exit must be securely fastened, or if latching mechanism is used, it must be accident proof.

Pet Restrictions:
Maximum of 1 animal per kennel *and* maximum amount of kennels per passenger based upon maximum allowed per aircraft *and* space availability.
No leash or restraining device attached to the pet.
Water drip bottle is allowed in kennel (Hawaiian Airlines does not feed animal).
The kennel must have an absorbent material. (blanket, towel, shredded paper, absorbent pad)
Pet must be harmless, inoffensive, odorless and not require attention during flight.
Household birds will be accepted on Trans-Pacific/Interisland flights only.
(No South Pacific/International flights)
Household birds will be accepted at the airport only. Hawaiian will no longer accept birds through Cargo or pet in cabin.
Household birds being transported into the State of Hawaii may only be accepted on flights into Honolulu (not into the Neighbor Islands).
Household birds may not travel in cabin unless they are service animals.
Normal kennel size/fee requirements will apply for checked baggage.
Household bird is defined as any type of bird a person would have as a pet.
It does not include chickens, rooster, or fighting chickens.
Exception:
Maximum 2 small birds in 1 container provided the bird can stand and turn around.

Note: Health Certificate is valid for 30 days from original departure date.
If travel is outside of 30 days, passenger needs to obtain a new
Health Certificate dated within 10 days of return flight.

Traveling With Service Animals
General Conditions of Acceptance

Hawaiian Airlines will not transport animals on non-stop flights from the Continental United States to the neighbor islands. Due to animal quarantine laws, all animals must follow proper entry guidelines by entering the State via the airport animal quarantine holding facility in Honolulu. Hawaiian Airlines will accept for transportation, domestic cats, dogs and household birds. Any other animals will not be accepted. The transportation of these live animals is subject to certain conditions of acceptance and charges as listed below.

EXCEPTION: This rule does not apply to the transportation of live animals pursuant to 14 CFR Part 382. For information regarding service, comfort and/or emotional support animals, please view our section Service Animals.

Effective Jan. 11, 2021, all guests with service animals must submit a current, completed U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Air Transportation Form. If your flight is 8 hours or longer, a current, completed U.S. Department of Transportation Service Animal Relief Attestation must also be submitted

Domestic Travel

Pago Pago, American Samoa (PPG): Hawaiian Airlines may transport animals to Pago Pago provided the animal originated in a country designated as "rabies-free" and is accompanied by an import permit from the American Samoa Department of Agriculture. A copy of this permit must accompany the animal. Dogs and cats originating from the continental United States must spend at least 120 days in quarantine in Honolulu before they are acceptable for transportation into American Samoa. Sydney, Australia / Other International Destinations: Hawaiian Airlines does not accept animals for transport.
