KENNEL GUIDE

Use this measurement guide to ensure that your kennel is large enough to comply with the IATA regulations.

Enhancing Your Pets Travel Experience
We believe pets are part of the "family" and we want to ensure their travel experience is as stress free as yours. Our handlers, where required, will take exceptional care of your pet but we ask you aid us, and your pet, by performing a few simple favors:
When shipping pets, a favorite toy or article inside the container helps to calm the animal.
Placing a familiar absorbent blanket in the kennel will also help calm the animal, and help maintain hygiene in the kennel during transport.
Marking the pet's name on the outside of the container is also important. We can better reassure the animal when we talk to it using its name.
Feed the animal only a light meal and a short drink two hours before its scheduled departure.
Exercise the animal immediately before it leaves your premises.
Shipment of females in heat (oestrus) is not recommended.
Never transport an animal with a choke collar or muzzle.
Live animal and kennel hygiene
-Use a kennel that is clean and as odour free as possible.
-Bath or clean all live animals just prior to shipping.

Does Air North Have Kennels for Rent or Purchase?
No. We do not provide kennels for rent or purchase.

Embargo Periods
There are no embargo periods, however, during the busy holiday season (December 15 - January 6) a reduction in the number of kennel(s) allowed per flight will be implemented to ensure the safety and comfort of all pets.

All pets are shipped space available so please book your pets travel well in advance to secure a spot.

Pet Medical Requirements
Our policy is to have you consult your veterinarian prior to travel. We do, however, recommend against sedation, as it slows animal heart rate and breathing patterns making oxygen in-take more difficult during flight.

Shipping Your Pet Inter-Airline
We ask that you allow a minimum of 4-hours between flights when shipping inter-airline. It is the shippers' responsibility to arrange for travel and any accommodations for the pet between flights.

Services are available which alleviates the stress of shipping pets. World Animal Travel is a fee-based organization that streamlines the transport of your pet, and will even overnight your pet. They can be reached by phone at 1.604.303.7384.
